We noticed that there appeared to be a lack of exposure to arts and culture in Napier at schools. Sports such as rugby and netball were the only outlets. The need to provide entertainment during the school holidays was critical, as there was no access to anything of that nature in a small rural village. This was adversely affecting the ability of these youngsters to grow emotionally and cognitively, thereby limiting their options as future productive adults.
Lindsay has a natural ability to manage children, having grown up in a large extended family. She is artistic and creative and is responsible for writing scripts, teaching dancing, sewing costumes, and mentoring the youth. She also attends to the general administration and fundraising.
Alida has a BMus from Stellenbosch University and 20 years of teaching in the UK. She has been actively involved in theatre and music with the children since 2018. Mat graduated from the London Musicians Institute in 1996. He is our sound engineer, and without him, we would not have been able to produce pantomimes of such high quality over the past few years.
Jeanne worked for Woolworths in their design department and ran her company for many years. She is the costume designer and has an incredible artistic flair.
Drew grew up locally and is an excellent dancer and vocalist. He is a natural performer and has taken part in all our shows. He is a good role model for the youngsters.
